Peer Education

In teams of two, Peer Outreach Workers present single session, hour long prevention based groups on various situations and issues that our youth population faces.

Thomas came into the Teen Drop-in Center/Clinic and explained to the Peer Outreach Workers (POW’s) that he had recently gotten out of McLaughlin Youth Center, was completing high school, and doing great with his probation. Thomas said the information he learned from the POW’s prevention based group at McLaughlin Youth Center helped him with the knowledge and desire to reduce his risk for HIV and STIs and wanted to get tested.
