As Peer Outreach Workers, we come to our positions with life experiences and go through a lot of training when we get to Alaska Youth Advocates. After training, we present single session one hour prevention based groups topics on the following:
- Birth Control
- Building Healthy Relationships
- Domestic Violence
- Human Trafficking
- Homelessness and Youth in Anchorage
- Job Skills
- LGBTQ Community
- Sexual Assault
April 21st: Suicide Awareness & Prevention
May 19th: Stress Management
June 16th: Creating Healthy Relationships
July 21st: Budgeting 101
August 18th: Balancing Education & Employment
September: Drugs & Addiction
The training sessions listed above will be held every third Thursday of the month in the Weidner room located at Covenant House from 4-6pm. The training will be open to ages 13-23 and food and beverages will be provided.
